Yay

Well, looks like that little "talk" we had last week cleared things right up. She's now napping 2 or so hours at a time in this here swing (still not enjoying it while awake though).

*Sigh*

Our child is so rational already. Gets that from me.

Anyone?

Avery has no less than 5 cute, fun, summer party dresses that she has yet to wear (and a couple more that have been worn once). I would love to be able to put her in them! Anyone want to invite her somewhere?! :) Dinner and a movie perhaps? She's fun to be around.
See!?

Why?

Dear Avery,

Why do you hate your swing? The swing that a very considerate and thoughtful friend or family member (I'm sorry, I can't remember who right now) purchased with you in mind. The very swing that matches your bouncy seat that you seem to enjoy so much, so I know it can't be the design that offends you. Now, I know there weren't any fun toys to look at, but I added an after-market toy bar for your amusement. It also features five speeds, none of which please you. I thought most babies love the swing, spending hours sleeping peacefully in them. I know, I know; you're not "most babies" (smarter, prettier, etc etc).

Perhaps it's not "fancy" enough for you? It doesn't have lights, music, soothing sounds, or anything of that nature. It doesn't swing side to side. It doesn't have a plush seat that cradles you in softness. Hey, what can I say? I'm a simple girl myself. Plus I didn't want an obnoxious monstrosity in my living room. Well, you showed me.

Ahh well, I will keep trying. It has a weight limit of 25 lbs, so there is much potential for usage. Someday you will enjoy this swing, I just know it!

Love,
Mom

Doctor

Avery had her appointment yesterday.

11 lbs 11 oz

24 inches

She received her first round of immunizations. They were not fun for any of us, but she actually only cried for a little bit when they were over and seemed fine the rest of the day.

A few pictures of her first real dip in the pool at Drew and Lynn's. Yes, clearly the child is not starving...

2 Months

She's 2 months old today, 4 weeks as of last Friday (don't think about the weeks vs. months thing...it'll make your head hurt). Regardless, she's growing like a weed!

Here's where we are at 2 months:

-She is very expressive and smiles a lot (and sometimes frowns).

-She is starting to practice her voice and make cooing sounds.

-She holds her head up steady.

-She can visually track an object in her line of sight.

-She is generally a good sleeper and sleeps 8-10 hours at night usually without interruption.

-She still likes walks and car rides and will generally go to sleep during either, although how long she will stay asleep after varies.

Working from home is going well. After this week I will have 3 more weeks left. Balancing it all-work, the house, and Avery is tiring but of course well worth it. And it's also great that we have The Grandmas that come over and help with Avery when they can.

Her 2 month checkup isn't until next week so we'll know all her stats then. She'll also get shots. I'm sure that'll be fun!

The 4th

Hope everyone had a great 4th! There won't be any pictures of Avery in a patriotic frock, because, well...we left her and went to the lake! We missed her but it was nice to get away. My mom watched Avery overnight on Saturday and supposedly she was a "little angel." Unfortunately, since our return she has been a "little insomniac," showing no regard for that thing we call bedtime aka going to sleep and staying that way (yes, we realize she is only 2 months old but she has spoiled us). Hopefully she gets back to normal asap.
