Thanksgiving Weekend Wrap-Up

We had a great, long weekend at the Thomas house!  Thanksgiving day we hopped from our house to Tulsa then to Claremore.  We forgot the camera so all pictures are from my phone!

I had planned to go shopping at midnight but due to the crazy lines when we arrived there was no way were getting inside.  Lynn and I were in awe of all the people.  Needless to say we went home without entering a store.
That red spot way up there? Target.

I actually went back around 8:30 on Friday morning and got quite a few things on my list, and the store was practically deserted.

Friday afternoon we got the Christmas stuff down and decorated the tree.  This is one of my absolute favorite things to do and it was so fun to have Avery help.  Surprisingly, no ornaments were harmed in the process.

You can't really see it but the Green Eggs & Ham ornament was her favorite.  She kept taking it off the tree.  I could see it being broken so I moved it out of reach, much to her dismay.

Saturday I took her to Target with me.  We went through all the toy aisles, hoping to find something that caught her eye.  Meh.  A few things interested her but nothing enthralled her.

Later that afternoon I went to a wreath-making party (more on that in another post).

Sunday we hung around the house.  Avery's imagination is growing daily.  I am so glad to see this, as I have no imagination.  No really, it's true.
Anyway, on Sunday she and monkey were going swimming in the "swimming swimming pool."  She went and put her swimsuit on by herself.  That chair turned on it's side is monkey's car (his "brand new car").  It's monkey's car, but apparently she gets to drive it.    She also drove (in monkey's car) to the doctor and to "the Target store."

This kid is truly hilarious.  I don't know how many times I said to Rob this weekend "where does she come up with this stuff?"  A few of the things she's uttered lately:

Boogers are not food.

Poop is not delicious.

Chill out.

Cool<--in response to a question I answered.  She replied "cool" and walked off.

Hey guys, check this out<--typically regarding some sort of couch stunt

If you tell her no, she'll respond "Well...I really, really want to."  Lots of sentences begin with "well...."

Sunday night was finished off with a viewing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, complete with popcorn.

It was a pretty awesome weekend, I must say!

Dress Up Closet

I saw this dress up closet on-where else-Pinterest.  I suggested to Rob that he could possibly make this and he was all over it.

The original idea and directions found here.

Please excuse the poor-quality cell phone pics.

We were going to paint it purple, but changed our mind when we found a gallon of pain in the "mis-matched" clearance section at Lowe's for $5.

One end has mirrors, the other has a couple of hooks for necklaces and purses.  The mirrors are were found at the Dollar Tree.

Also, it has wheels so it can easily be moved around.

The letters were done with stencils.  We glued on a couple of painted wood accent things found at Hobby Lobby for under $1 each.  As shown: a purse, a shoe, and, above the mirrors, a crown.

I think it turned out great.  And I can say that because I had absolutely nothing to do with it.  I didn't even lift a paint brush.  Not that I wouldn't have, had I been called upon to do so.

Last Weekend

A quick post full of iPhone pictures:)

Saturday morning we had breakfast at Panera.

Stephen's dogs are staying with us and she will not stay out of the crate.

A little lunch on Saturday

I promised the playground after nap even though it was cold and windy.

 Relaxing.

Making some pear muffins Saturday afternoon.

Homemade pizza and green beans for dinner.

 Covering Elton with "blankie."

No pictures of Niles because he won't let her get too close.  They're not used to being around kids, but they're doing great.  She is already calling them "my dogs."  She may not be too happy when they have to go back home.

Other than the earthquakes, it was a pretty uneventful weekend.  We had earthquakes Friday night (2 a.m. Saturday, really), Saturday night about 10:45, and Sunday night about 9.  I slept through the early Saturday morning one but felt the others.

Halloween 2011

Who said Halloween is just one day?  Not around here!  Halloween kicked off last Wednesday with an event at my mom's office.  As you can tell, mom works at FedEx.  They had treats for the kids, pizza, and we got to see one of their big planes land right outside the warehouse.

Friday was Halloween at my office.  As I've posted before, my company does a big Halloween celebration with decorations, trick or treating, cookie decorating, and pics of the kids.  I suppose I should have coached Avery a bit on trick or treating, as she didn't really get it.  When we first got there she was pretty shy and clingy to me.  She would approach each candy bowl and just stand there. I had to prod her to take a piece of candy.  Ha-next year she'll get it!

Avery would not stand with them.

Her joy is really evident in these photos, is it not?

In spite of everything, I think she had a good time.

Saturday we headed to Brookside for the BooHaHa celebration.  The weather was beautiful.  It was pretty crowded (as expected).  We walked around for a bit, had some lunch, and left before the parade started.

Same as last year

Monday (Halloween) rolled around and we put the Minnie costume on for the 4th time.  Avery had trick or treating and other festivities at daycare.
I snagged this picture from the daycare Facebook page.

After her nap Rob picked Avery up for an party at his office, stopping at his dad's office on the way.

We decided to stay home and pass out candy.  With the above mentioned activities we had PLENTY of candy already, and Avery definitely didn't miss out on trick or treating this year.

And with that, Halloween 2011 is a wrap.  Bring on the holiday season!
