McBaby

So Avery has diaper blowouts almost everyday at daycare. By the way, I've tried Huggies, Pampers, and now Target brand and nothing is preventing them. I'll take any suggestions. Anyway, we have to send a change of clothes with her daily for this reason. Yesterday Rob forgot the extra clothes at home, so when I went to pick her up she was wearing "loaner" clothes provided by daycare. Poor thing looked like a rag-a-muffin. You may not be able to tell but her shirt says "McBaby" (who knew McDonald's had a clothing line?).Also, we tried banana last night. FAIL. She hated it. I might try mixing a small amount with her oatmeal next time to acclimate her to the taste.

It wasn't all crying Sunday. Here are a few of the better pics.

Pumpkin Patch Outtakes

Sunday we went to the church by our house to get a couple pumpkins and take pictures. Avery must have been tired (she fell asleep in the car as soon as we left) and was not wanting to sit by herself. We did get some good pictures but we are holding her in most of them. The outtakes are funny and because we are such good parents we are sharing them with the www.

A is for Avery...and Avocado

Last night was Avery's first taste of "real" food: avocado. I mashed up a very small amount, maybe a teaspoon (Rob and I ate the rest with fajitas), and mixed in a little breastmilk to make it thinner. She ate it all!

If she had a fork she'd be banging it on the tray. Girl likes to eat!

"What do we have here?"

"Interesting..."

Now, just a couple weeks ago I was expressing my distaste for pictures of babies (or kids) with food all over their face. It's just...gross. I'm not saying it's gross for them to have food on their face when they're eating-that's just going to happen. It's the public displaying of the photos that gets me. Ewww, like I really want to see pictures of your kid with food on their face because that's just sooooooo cute. Right. Anyway....I don't know what's wrong with me. I have no excuse for myself other than I just think this picture is so cute! Sorry!

today we were celebrating our wedding with friends and family. It was an amazing day, one we still think and talk about often. Happy anniversary to a wonderful husband and father. Avery and I are lucky girls.

Big Weekend

Avery had her very first sleepover this weekend at my mom's! Her first time spending the night away from home and her first night sleeping in the pack n play. Mom said she did great! Of course, she could have acted like a devil baby and Mimi would probably still say she was great.

Sunday we went to lunch for Great Grandma Alice's birthday. Avery seemed to enjoy PF Chang's although she didn't get to sample any of the fare. Maybe next time! Happy Birthday G-G-Ma Alice!

5 Months

Here is what Avery is up to at 5 months old:

-Rolls everywhere. As soon as you lay her down she is all over the place.

-Very interested in Arthur. She stares at him whenever he's around. The feeling is mutual, and he takes any opportunity he can to get a lick in.

-Smiles all the time. She was charming everyone at the doctor's office yesterday.

-Laughs sometimes.

-We have started rice cereal and oatmeal. Not a fan of the rice cereal. In fact she refuses to eat it. The oatmeal goes over fairly well. In the next few weeks we will probably introduce a vegetable and fruit. We had to mix her milk with formula last weekend because I went out of town. She took to it fine. I am hoping to make it one more month of pumping and breastfeeding. I really want to make it to 6 months and at this point I think I may be done at that time.

-We finally broke the swaddle successfully. She goes to bed around 8:30. Sometimes she will wake up in the middle of the night, sometimes not. Sometimes she wakes up and talks to herself for a bit, sometimes she cries. Naps are still pretty short usually, but sometimes she will take an hour+ nap at daycare or home. Otherwise it's 30 minutes.

-She has been to the doctor twice in the last two weeks. Last week the daycare told us she was pulling on her ear. When I called they suggested we bring her in. No ear infection, ball of ear wax removed=$20. Now she is congested and coughing. They didn't think we needed to bring her in unless she had a fever, which she didn't. The daycare told us one of the babies had a viral respiratory infection, so I decided to take her to the doctor anyway. Mental note: viral respiratory infection=cold. Cold diagnosis=$20. :)

-Getting heavy! 15 pounds as of yesterday!

-Likes to put everything she can in her mouth including, but not limited to, the remote.

-She is a wonderful, happy, funny, healthy baby and we love her so much!

Rob said this photo shoot was a little more difficult than the previous ones. More interested in the paper I suppose.
