Lake of the Ozarks

Some friends invited us to their family lake house for the weekend.  It was beautiful-not much more you could ask for!!  The kids had a wonderful time swimming off the dock, riding in the boat, and fishing.  Avery was in heaven.  She loves being on the water.   A relaxing weekend for sure.  Next time Ben can come:)  He was just too little this year.

"Wait, who's driving this thing??"

Avery, "we're going to crash!"

Wrapping up Summer

Is it really fall already?  Dang!  Summer is my favorite season so I'm always a little bummed to see it go!  I just love the long, hot days.  Daylight until 9.  Kids running barefoot around the front yard.  Popsicles, swimming...AHHHHH, it's just a wonderful time of year.  We'll still have a few more weeks of warm weather around here, so all that isn't coming to a close just yet, regardless of what the calendar says.  But I digress.  The last couple of weeks...

There was a neighborhood block party with a sno cone machine, a fire engine, corn hole, and run of the streets.

Avery had her friend sleep over.  They insisted on sleeping on the floor in the living room.

And Ben and I got to do the cleanup the next morning!

We've been enjoying the warm summer evenings!

Summer wrapped up nicely!

Open House and Student of the Month

Back to school night!  Avery enjoyed sitting by her friends in the school-wide meeting.

Sweet girl at her desk.

Early in the week we received a call from the school that Avery was getting student of the month in her class.  Ahem.  First month of school, like last year.  We are so, so proud of her for setting a positive example in class.  I didn't make the rookie mistake I made last year of spoiling the surprise by telling her before the pep rally.

She was super excited that everyone was there to see her but even more excited that she got pizza and soda for lunch.

Labor Day Weekend 2015

Ben and I kicked off the weekend with a trip to Sonic and the park after we dropped Avery off at school.

We had a fun afternoon and evening with neighbors.  The kids ran and played their hearts out.

Saturday kicked off football season.

The kids had a great time playing with our friends on Sunday evening.

Avery wanted to do something special on Rob for Labor Day.  Because he works so hard.  Ahem.  So we made muffins.

Rob grilled a great dinner for us-very quiet and relaxing Labor Day at home!
