A's Birthday

I took half a day off yesterday and told Avery we could do whatever she wanted.  She chose to go to the park.  So went went to three.

I picked her up right after 12.  The lights were off and all the kids were on their cots for nap time but Avery was waiting at the teacher's desk.  She was so excited.  As we were walking out she said "I was waiting so hard for you!"

We stopped by Weber's for a root beer freeze and tator tots.  The last park had the splash pad on and she had a blast there.  We stopped by Mimi's office on the way home (couldn't go in of course, ahem, no clothes).

For dinner I made macaroni and cheese and broccoli as requested.

Now, I'm a little afraid to show you the cake picture because word about my cake decorating skills might get out and everyone would be requesting my assistance for parties.  And I don't have time for all that.  But here goes:

Look, the birthday girl was pretty impressed, mostly by her favorite My Little Pony on the cake.

Avery is 4

Sweet Avery is 4 today.  It's crazy how fast they grow and change.

She is all the things above and more.  She is a wonderful big sister.  She has never shown anything but love towards Ben (and the occasional annoyance when he gets ahold of something of hers and chews on it).   She loves to give hugs and sigh and say "I love you so much."  I'll find two cookies in her cubby that her teacher said she wanted to save for Rob and I.  She is perfectly happy being at home, making up games, coloring, going on pretend adventures, playing with her babies (Sierra and Cinderella), or watching tv.  She loves to play outside.  She loves to read.  Sometimes she is sassy.

What else can I say?  She is a delightful kid.  We are beyond lucky to be her parents.

I asked her some questions last night

She pulled the doctor thing out of nowhere, but hope she sticks with that!  Also, the ducky as her favorite toy...pretty sure she saw a duck in her peripheral because she doesn't have a duck toy.  But all the other answers are true!

Happy birthday to our girl.

We love you, like, $54 (this is what she tells us every night).

Busy Weekend

Blink.

And the weekend is over.  

This one was pretty busy.

Saturday was Olivia's 3rd birthday party at a local gymnastics place.

Avery enjoyed herself!  There were areas for little ones.

Then there was the big foam pit.  In true Avery fashion, instead of jumping in off the trampoline she tried to ease in off the mat that is actually where you are supposed to get out.  That's alright, she figures out her own way.

Adam convinced her to jump with him and that was all she needed.

Then she made him jump with her 4 more times.

After Olivia's party I went to a Kentucky Derby party with Lauren and Lynn.  I'd never been to a derby party or even watched the race.  It was really fun!!  That night we also went to Shannon's birthday party.  Rob was on call and therefore stuck at home all weekend.  

Sunday we celebrated Gramper's birthday.  But first, a very rare (and noteworthy) occurrence: Avery napping!

The weather was pretty yucky all weekend.  Sunday was better than cold, rainy Saturday but still cool.
