Baby will be getting some color this week — eye color, that is. Pigment will fill in your baby's irises, but it might take six months after birth for the eyes to settle into their true color. Eyelashes, eyebrows and hair are continuing to grow, and brain tissue is rapidly increasing. You'll also be happy to know that your baby is plumping up as more much-needed body fat develops.
Your baby is settling into the proper position for birth, with his head facing downward (toward your body's nearest exit!). Your little work in progress is now about 2.5 pounds and almost 16 inches long. He's busy adding new skills such as blinking to an already impressive repertoire of tricks like coughing, sucking, hiccuping, and taking practice breaths. Your baby's sleep now includes the REM (rapid eye movement) phase — and that means he could be dreaming already (what do you suppose he's dreaming about?).

Dinosaur tat on wrist

Hello, 3rd trimester.  Less than 12 weeks until we meet the newest member of our family.

Right now, I am doing fine.  Which is good because I need all the physical stamina and energy I can muster over the next two weeks.

My living room looks like this

And we have so much more to do.  That is part of the kitchen and bedroom, as well as one bookshelf.  We haven't started on Avery's room yet.  We're using boxes as fast as we get them.  Rob brought home a carload last night and we used them all.

Between packing and planning Avery's birthday I am keeping pretty busy.  I am really looking forward to getting settled into our new house and finally relaxing and preparing for the baby.  Yeah...the baby.  He still has no name.  sigh

I am feeling like we are so NOT ready right now.  We have ONE package of diapers and ONE package of wipes.  That will last us about 1.5 days.  And some clothes.  That's all.

Oh well.  12 more weeks, right?  Plenty of time.
